July 2021 - Bonjour, mes chers! How is it already July 2021?! I hope your semi-pandemic summer is going well so far. In Grosse Pointe, we’ve had lightning bugs, coolish temps and lots of rain. My husband and I are from Florida, so 70-something degree days in July are a treat!
Here are some things that I’ve been excited about lately:
- Linen, linen, linen! Is there a better fabric out there, especially for sultry summer days? Okay, maybe silk, but linen is so good. We have 3 gorgeous 100% linen solids in the shop right now: Rust, Rain Cloud, and Rosebud. We also have some linen-cotton blends by Robert Kaufman in Hot Pink and Black and White Stripe.
- Speaking of linen, I recently made a Japanese-style pinafore apron for my mom in our 7 ounce 100% linen in Rust, and she loves it! Should I do a tutorial? Let me know on Instagram if you’d like to see how to make one of your own!
- I’m also so excited to announce that we will soon be offering Merchant & Mills fabrics in the shop! I’m in the process of photographing them now, and they are so lush. Merchant & Mills is an English textile house that has some of the most beautiful and high quality fabrics in the world. They source locally in the UK, but also from Japan, India and Eastern Europe. I cannot wait to show you what we’re featuring! Here’s a hint: Japanese denim!
As always, follow us on Pinterest for all the best inspiration I can find. I love this creative work, and am thrilled to be able to help inspire others in their journey towards a hand sewn wardrobe!
